The Yamaha Tyros

Concerts

Report by: Brian Waters

Performer: Brett Wales - Instrument: Wersi Scala

Brett Wales returned to the Peterborough Post Office and Social Club on Thursday evening 9th September, 2004 to present a concert for the Peterborough Organ and keyboard Club. He last played for us in December 2002, when he performed our ' Christmas Concert'

Brett is always very in much demand by all the Organ Societies, he is very busy performing all over the country and has a quite a large following of fans.

Playing the Wersi Scarla Organ, [it seems he will not ever want to change from the Wersi organs] he loves them so much and the great sounds they produce, - the concert he gave us was 'Superb' providing music to suit all tastes and a Stunning performance for everyone to remember!

He started with his arrangement of 'Conquest of Paradise' and then into a Band Number, the' Oldie' 'Cheek to Cheek', plus other band Numbers.

Then we heard a lovely arrangement of: ' And I love you so' this was
followed by Cliff's 'Living Doll'.

'After You've Gone' in the Benny Goodman Style followed
featuring Clarinet -- a great version this.! and then ' Dancing Queen'. Which of course 'Abba' made very popular.

Brett followed this with a Super version of ' Nothings going to Change my love for You ' this featured Electric Piano, Piano and other great sounds including organ sounds

We then heard some Country and Western music -'Blanket on the Ground' then into 'Chattanooga -Choo-Choo', this was followed by 'Sentimental Journey'

Brett then produced a' lively' brilliant performance of ' Flight of the Bumblebee' by Barry Lipman ., the Organ sounds and level playing were truly amazing on this !.

Then up to the interval with ' True Love Ways'. Featuring the Hawaiian
Guitar'

After the usual interval break, we had a Great Selection of all kinds of music and some of the sounds used on the Wersi organ were Phenomenal, Songs including ' Strangers in the Night' ' My 'Blue Heaven' in traditional Jazz style featuring the Jazz Violin..

Then great versions of 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon ' Red River Valley' 'This Ole House' then some Barry Manilow Music, this led on to some Beetles Music then a 'James Last selection' including Chicken Reel. .

A nice Orchestral arrangement of the ' Skaters Waltz', and up towards the finish of the concert with ' Silence is Golden' ' Will you Still Love Me Tomorrow' and others, finishing with a Rock and Roll Selection.

The audience, boosted this month because of Bretts appearance, gave a Terrific Ovation at the end of the concert then of course he played a final Number, We hope it will not be too long before we have him back for yet another concert!

Performer: Brett Wales - Instrument: Wersi Scala

This is the first time I had heard Brett and a Wersi and was amazed with the amount of sounds that were on offer and were truly remarkable, I really enjoyed 1492 theme particularly as being a film music fan.

A great turnout and usual raffle at the interval and Brett had his CD's for sale

I'm sure we'll be seeing him again in a new concert in the near future.

Thank you for everyone who attended and see you all again soon

Our next concert is on Thursday 14th October with Brian Hazelby on Wersi Performer
