Thursday

There
was a reasonable turn- out for this concert,- Brian was playing his
Wersi Performer Organ and Roland FP2 Piano, and he provided
a very pleasant evenings entertainment, playing a varied selection
of music.A most
experienced player on the circuit Brian has performed as a pianist
over the years with the popular John Barry Seven and Geraldo and his
orchestra,Starting
his programme with two lively numbers 'Lets face the Music' and
'Never be Another you'.Then
a tribute to Bob Hope with 'Thanks for the Memory' and following
this a nice version of 'A Nightingale Sang' in Berkeley Square'
featuring the Saxophone and some jazz organ sounds. We then
heard 'You go to my Head'- Bossa Style, , and then ' The
Wind Beneath My Wings' in Jazz Organ sounds and other sounds. Some
'Herb Alpert' sounds followed 'Spanish Flee and Tiawana
Taxi'. Before going into some Country music ' Crazy' Brian
then moved across to the piano to play some George Gershwin 'Rhapsody
in Blue' - ' Embraceable you' 'Love is here to Stay ' Over the
Rainbow' and others and finishing with 'Don't Get around much
anymore these were excellently performed.Some
Classical Organ took us to the Interval- with some John Sebastian
Bach with a 'Two Part Invention' and other classical music. The usual
Raffle took place and there were some Cds on sale. The Second
Half started lively enough with a selection of Naval Songs
Including Bobby Shafto, Life on the Ocean Wave and 'The
Fleets in'. Music
followed from Jerome Kern's Showboat, then 'Stranger on
the Shore and a mixed selection. Several well known followed. Then
another selection of tunes played in different sound and styles,s
including 'Beginning to See the Light' and 'Love me or Leave
me.' Back
to the Piano for guess the 'Styles' of famous Pianist's and this proved
quite popular
we had amongst others Semprini, Charlie Coombes, Joe Henderson,
and others, also a snatch of the Great Les Dawson Style, this was
a most enjoyable ten minutes or so.Brian
finished with a: Rousing March by. ' Susa' 'Stars
and Stripes.
Everyone wanted another so he ended with some nice 'Theatre Organ
sounds'.All in
all a very pleasant evening , everyone seemed to go home satisfied
with the entertainment provided.
The committee
look forward to seeing as many people as possible for our next concert
