Another Top Entertainer
and Musician visited the Cities Post Office Sports and Social Club
on Thursday Evening the 11th November to provide us with 2 hours of
great Music and Entertainment.
From Yorkshire,
Andrew Nix performed for us on the Roland
AT80SL Organ and provided for us a great selection of music
and laughter, and it was a pity there were not more people there to
enjoy this concert.
Andrew is a likeable
person and a really Super Player and he made the Organ sound great,
he started his concert with a couple of Stirring Marches, and followed
these with the popular song 'SHE'.
Then the- 'Lonely
Bull', 'Spanish Flee', and 'Tijuana Taxi' followed this.
A tribute to Reginald
Dixon followed with some great theatre organ sounds, including Happy
Days, and ' Hey Look me over'.
Then a tune composed
by 'The Last of the Summer Wine Star' the Late Bill Owen and
one of Bills compositions A song called 'So Lucky' featuring
the Harmonica and strings ,this was a very nice arrangement.
Some more Theatre
Music took us to the interval including: 'Secret Love'- Jealousy
and Pennies from Heaven
A Selection of
Music from Irving Berlin Started the Second Half including 'Cheek-to-Cheek',
'Let Yourself Go' and 'Changing Partners'.
A lovely arrangement
of ' Misty' featuring mainly the Piano and then we had a great version
of ' Beyond the Sea'
Then 'Stranger
on the 'Shore' and then some Bossa Nova style music including
'Our Day will Come'.
A couple of Samba's
followed then a March and Andrew finished his concert with a Stunning
version of 'Telstar' then 'Ghost Riders in the Sky',
the audience though called for more so we heard a further selection
of music to please everyone. During his concert Andrew continued to
remind us that he last came to our club four years ago I think in
2000 which in fact it was, I do not think it will be a further four
years before we have him back again.!
Next month sees
our Christmas Concert and we welcome back Jean Martyn, so please come
along, you will not be disappointed, Jean of course is a very popular
player and a big favourite so we can expect another super evening
and we look forward to seeing you then.

This is the first
time I had heard Andrew Nix and he was absoulety amazing - really
enjoyed the final song - Telstar - and it is amazing what organs can
do these days - I hope I can try one some time - a Roland AT80 that
is.
A good turnout this month and usual raffle at the interval and Andrew
had his CD's for sale
Thank you for everyone who attended and see you all again soon
