One of the UKs
Top Organist - The ' One and only' TIM FLINT visited our club
on Thursday 8th July, and he gave another great concert to
remember for everyone there.
Tim of course
has visited the club many times and always gives us great concerts,
and this one was another really superb performance producing some
amazing sounds from the top of the range Organ Roland AT90S.
Coming on Stage
in one of his flamboyant sparkling outfits complete with Cape Tim
Started off with a Rousing performance of the Big Band number Count
Basie' style ' Jump to it'.
A great theatre organ selection followed this including: ' Plink
Plank Plonk' 'Friendly Persuasion' and the 'Trolley Song.'
We then had the ' Intermezzo' from Cavalleria Rusticana this
featured strings and orchestral sounds.
Then came Harold
Smarts 'Organ Hoedown' and then Tim played a couple of his
own compositions a Bossa Nova and a lovely Ballad featuring the piano.
.
There were a couple
of Sambas, and then up to the interval with a version of ' Tea
for Two.'
Tim's presentation
table with various items i.e.: Music and Cards etc. seemed to be busy
at the interval with people browsing the items, and chatting gennerally
to him. And of course our usual Raffle draw was held.
The Second Half
commenced with 'Have you Met Miss Jones' and then into some
great sounds from James Last, we had the: Lonely Shepherd, followed
by 'Mornings at Seven'.
Then ' Walk
Between Raindrops' Jazz organ style together with Doos and Dats.
Tim then had a
look at some requests, which were left for him during the interval
and in the audience were a couple' Ida and George' who have
been married for 54 years and he played 'Night and day' they
both seemed pleased that he mentioned them both
.
A lovely piece followed entitled ' Pure Imagination' from Willie
Wonka's Chocolate Factory,---- some great sounds here.!
On to some great
theatre organ sounds featuring special arrangements of ' People'
and 'Where or When'. On the Roland organ there are some Special
Human Voice sounds and these were put to great use Gospel style with
an arrangement of ' Whole World in his Hands'
Then a Classical
Organ piece by Gordon Young, Prelude in Classic Style, the film theme
followed from ' Out of Africa' and the concert ended with one
of Tim's most requested tunes: ' Mucsket Ramble' Kenny Ball
Style.
The enthusiastic
audience called for an encore and the concert finished with the theme:
'A Bridge to Far. --' A March - to celebrate ' D' day 60 years
ago..
The evening turned
out to be a 'memorable' show, the audience warmed to Tim's personality
and his special brand of Wit, were involved from the start and he
showed us yet again why he is one the Countries best Entertainers
around.
We do not have
a concert in August, the next one is with Brett Wales who visits the
club on the 9th September and Brian McMillan and myself look forward
to seeing as many people as possible there, for what will be another
great evenings entertainment
