Performer : Jon Smith
Instruments : Wersi Performer

Thursday, 9th February saw Experienced Organist and Entertainer Jon Smith visit our club for a two-hour long concert performing on the Wersi Performer Organ.

Jon, who had not played at Peterborough for ten years or so, has been entertaining people now for many years and has played Internationally as well as on Cruise ships and his style of music is based on all the Classic /Popular songs that people know and love: a lot of the 'oldies' that usually go down well at Organ clubs! Our club was no exemption.

The Wersi Performer sounded pretty good even though it is now nine years old and he used the sounds and Rhythms very well indeed, I felt that had Jon been playing an up to date Yamaha or Roland instrument this would have sounded even better.

Amongst the music played in the first half we had 'Charmaine' 'Tenderly' a good version of 'Where is your Heart' featuring the Accordion, then the ever popular 'Misty' - -- Jon also sung several songs throughout the whole concert, and his singing voice came across very well.

Jon then Sang 'That Sunday That Summer' superimposed with popular organist Chio Sanamoto and included the saxophone solo played on the organ, - this sounded pretty good.!!

The second half went along well too with some non-stop music, highlights included the 'Take the 'A' Train' a Blackpool Style Theatre Selection remembering the great Reginald Dixon, and then a tribute to the late amazing musician Tony Back 'The Nearness of you.' which of course was one of Tonys songs.

Once again our attendance was down for this concert a pity because it was a good night all round and the majority went home happy and with comments like: Do not wait another ten years to have this guy back!!! and 'He played music we all Know! Nobody could argue with that!

Jon said he enjoyed the evening himself and his programme certainly went down well with those there! and of course called for more at the end.

Paul Carman is with us next month playing Orla GT8000, and hope to see as many people there as possible for this concert, attendances have dropped of late again so please come and support us, Brian Mac and Myself look forward to seeing a good number of you there on March 9th.
