Concerts

Report by: June Clark

Performer :: Richard Bower
Instruments: Yamaha Tyros 2

For our Concert on the 14 th December, we welcomed RICHARD BOWER from Shepton Mallett, Somerset.

To get the evening into full swing, we enjoyed the great sounds of Richard’s now famous “Twin Set” with Hammond Pedal Board:

“Tico, Tico” - lively Latin samba, followed by “Summertime” and “Autumn Leaves”.

“If I Only Had Time”- ”A Foggy Day in London Town” followed by “Be Still My Sole” from the Phantom Of The Opera.

Next came the lovely Latin rumba “History Of Love” - the music chosen by Torvill and Dean’s Set rumba in their last bid for gold at the 1986 Winter Olympics.

“Twenty Anna”, followed by Michael Buble’s adaptation of “Summer Wind” especially written and arranged for Frank Sinatra. Often requested from “Keyklix” - Richard partners up with Ian Griffin - “Lonely As A Man Without Love” and “The Wonder Of You”.

Organ Swing in jazz style of “Satin Doll” and “Little Darling” - from Judy Garland - “Over The Rainbow” and “The Trolley Song”.

Romantic sounds of “Somewhere My Love” from Dr.Zhivago. Back to the 60’s with Sandy Shaw’s “Long Live Love”, followed by “Under the Boardwalk” and “Misty”.

Christmas Medley - “I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “Jingle Bells”, “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town” and “Silent Night”.

For Richard’s final piece of music, he chose to pay - and play a tribute to the late Mark Shakespeare.- “Mack The Knife”, “Dankershern” and “Hello Dolly”.

For Richard’s encore - a foot tapping, rock and roll rendition of “This Old House”.

Richard’s popularity amongst thousands of Yamaha enthusiasts is always greatly appreciated - he has a wealth of musical knowledge - and always performs “live” - no sequencing or backing tracks. Thank you, Richard, for a delightful evening’s entertainment and we look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.
