December 2005 Concert Report

The Yamaha AR100

Concerts

Report by: Brian Waters

Performer : Tony Stace
Instruments : Yamaha HX1

Our Christmas Concert this year was given by one the Top Names on the Organ circuit - Popular entertainer Tony Stace visited the club on Thursday 8th December 2005 and as ever was in super form playing the HX1 which although twenty years old now sounded pretty good and he provided another great evening for all our members to enjoy.

At Christmas the club always provide at the interval Sausage rolls, mince pies, Crisps and nuts, and the tables are decorated with lit candles, the hall is also nicely decorated for the festive season including a Christmas tree on stage.Tony started with a 'German selection' of music followed by 'Only The Lonely and Devil Women'.Then we had 'Stars and Stripe' a rousing March, before going on to 'History of Love' and 'Be my Love' the Mario Lanza hit song!A great selection of music from the show 'Oliver' and other popular songs followed- then three Classic tunes 'These foolish Things' ' When I fall in Love' and 'Smile' There was some Irish Music but so far no Christmas songs but these were included in the second half! The interval included the normal raffle, a Special Christmas Members draw, this year we had a Bottle of Champagne and some miniature bottles of Brandy, and Tony seemed to be doing well with his Dvds and Cds. and of course the food which I think was enjoyed by everyone. The second went along well and included a good selection of Christmas music and Carols, which one would expect at this time of year. everyone enjoyed these in particular, also included a Great hit by Diana Ross 'When you Tell me that You Love Me' A great version of this featuring the Electric PianoWe had some Latin Music, the popular RAF March past and the 'Prelude in Classic Style' and Tony finished with' Dizzy Fingers'

Another great night all round to end the year - once again we had a good attendance which is encouraging,-- on behalf of us all on the committee we wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous 2006 -. We will be back on the 12th January 2006. and we look forward to seeing you all then
