Popular Lady
Organist Jean Martyn visited the club to present our Christmas Concert
on December 9th, playing on Yamaha EL900.
The concert was
based on a Christmas theme throughout the concert and Jean presented
it in the format of a Christmas Story
.
Starting off with Ski Sunday and Walking in the Air
leading on to a whole selection of Christmas Songs and up to the interval
with some nice sounds with some Disney music. Sausage rolls
and mince pies were provided, the tables were suitably decorated with
lit candles, there were crisps and nuts, which made - made for a jolly
festive occasion, then came the raffle followed by the Christmas Members
draw. We had some traditional
Carols to start the second half, then a request for some Glen Miller
including the famous Moonlight Serenade. Then a brilliant
version of the popular ballet Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky then
followed further seasonal music finishing with Jingle Bells
Jean 's bubbly
personality and playing was enjoyed and everyone went home in a festive
mood!

Really great to
hear the EL900 again, must have been a year since I last played this
fantastic model from Yamaha
Jean was absolutely incredible, a vast selection of Christmas songs,
Disney songs, Nutcracker Suite and a tribute to Glenn Miller
packed in two hours. The audience even came in and sang to the
songs during the second half and the recorded version of White Christmas
was really good
I hope she can be invited back for another concert
Compliments to the chef for the sausage rolls and mince pies - ho
ho ho
Merry Christmas to everyone and see you all in the new year.
