Report by: Brian Waters

Performer : Elizabeth Harrison
Instruments : Yamaha EL900

Our Members enjoyed yet another excellent concert on Thursday evening the 9th Thursday evening 13 th April saw Elizabeth Harrison visit the City to provide her first Concert for our club performing on Yamaha EL900.

Elizabeth has become very popular with Organ clubs around the country and her playing is first class and there have been some excellent reports from the clubs she has visited.

From Preston in Lancashire she is very friendly and has a fine Lancashire accent, she not only plays organ but also told us that she is a holder of’ HGV’ licence and drives heavy goods vehicles also has many other interests as well as holding down a day job working on a farm and loves gardening.

Elizabeth started her concert with a theatre selection and some of the songs included

Were Down the Mall’ - ‘ On the Street where you Live’ -- Sweet Georgia Brown and Skyliner.

A John Walker Composition followed ‘Spring Serenade’ with the Pan Flute featured

Following on from this a Charlie Coombes Piano selection, and then a whole range of different music including the ‘Imperial Echoe’ March, again using the theatre sounds.

Then a good version of ‘Prelude in Classic Style’- Classic organ style!

Our audience seemed to warm to Elizabeth’s sense of humour and she chatted with our members during the usual interval.

The Second Half went along well with a varied selection of music using different sounds with the Strings including ‘Misty’ and ‘ Stardust’ then some Glenn Miller music and several more Marches. We had a nice arrangement of the ‘Gold andSilver Waltz’. Then we heard ‘Forgotton Dreams’ followed by several well-known songs using different sounds.

She finished off the evening with the Pet Clark hit song ‘ This is My Song!’

This was a very well attended concert, which most enjoyed and was a pleasant evening all round.
